I Plaid Allegiance To The Fall!
Today was our 5th annual Plaid Pumpkin brunch! Crazy to think that this tradition started 5 years ago in NYC as a fun mimosa style adult brunch and turned into a a family pumpkin decorating, crazy kid brunch, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
So if you haven’t followed my annual Plaid Pumpkin Brunch, here’s how it goes….
Everyone wears their favorite plaid flannel shirt and we brings their favorite pumpkin dish! The only food items that do not have to be pumpkin are the quiche and the breakfast meats, otherwise when I say pumpkin I mean literally every single thing! It is really fun to see everyone’s creativity when creating pumpkin dishes!
On the breakfast side this year we had a pumpkin french toast casserole, cinnamon buns pumpkin casserole, pumpkin breads, pumpkin bagels and pumpkin waffles. There was a parfait bar with pumpkin maple granola and my favorite Trader Joe’s spiced pumpkin seeds!
On the lunch side there was pumpkin ravioli in a blush sauce, pumpkin pasta in a butter sage sauce, pumpkin chips with salsa and I tossed in a shrimp cocktail ring!
Dessert is always amazing yet overwhelming, and everyone makes a container to take home with them. This year we had pumpkin chocolate chip cookies, pumpkin cream cheese cookies, pumpkin apple cider donuts, pumpkin Chocolate mouse cake, pumpkin oreos, pumpkin pie, pumpkin donuts, pumpkin pretzels, pumpkin cookies and pumpkin blondies.
Every year since we’ve had kids, I buy a different color pumpkin every year for each kid and cricut their name on it. To keep it mess free with so many kids Ryann puts out foam stickers for the kids to decorate their pumpkins. They love their personal pumpkin and it’s a great little party favor. Ryann just did her third pumpkin and Liam second!
Well after a crazy fun day with 16 kids and 20 adults, it’s safe to say my house is somehow cleaned, my kids are passed out in bed and this mom is ready for bed!
