Who Says You Can’t Wear White to Thanksgiving?

We are not exactly sure why this fashion rule came into effect, but it happened sometime in the 1800s or 1900s. Now, in 2018, we live in a society that does not have fashion rules: you wear what you want, how you want to wear it and whenever you want to wear it!

Fashion is a way to show who you are as a person and who doesn’t love to create their own trends?

Personally, I like to step outside the box out of my comfort zone and create looks that break the so-called “rules.” Why do we have to listen to what society says and only wear white between Memorial Day and Labor Day?
Well, now we don’t!
Uh, oh call the fashion police because I am taking a stand and this year at Thanksgiving. I will be wearing white jeans and clearly I am wearing them after Labor Day.

Thanksgiving is a time for family, friends, happiness, and traditions. The color white symbolizes goodness, innocence, purity, cleanliness, illumination, brilliance and beginnings. At Thanksgiving, we are thankful for everyone around us but we are also thankful for new beginnings. Everyday our lives are changing and we have to evolve, so why not wear a color that symbolizes new beginnings while we create them!

Since white is known to be a summer color, we have to at least wear our white with the style of the season. This Thanksgiving, I will be wearing my Parker Smith white high rise bombshell skinny jeans to show that I am rebellious of the white-after-Labor-Day rule, but I will be wearing them with my Steve Madden black thigh high heels. Pairing these boots with the white jeans creates the perfect fall, white look!

Now let’s talk tops! There are so many ways to continue on this fall vibe, but currently I am debating between two different tops (let’s be honest when do I ever just have one outfit set in stone.) I have this perfect black, viscose, three quarter sleeve top with white trim on the cuff, a zipper up the center back and it features a white Peter Pan collar. I found this Pilgrim gem perfect for Thanksgiving last fall at Forever21! (Since it was from last season I have linked the updated version to this blog, which honestly has an even better girly touch.)

For the Republic came out with an oversized women’s, black turtleneck sweater with fur pockets. This is the perfect fall into winter look and it is gorgeous paired with white jeans and black boots. Option two is brand new from Bloomingdales, but sadly they are already sold out, so I tagged a similar look from Amazon!

Either way both tops work perfectly with my Michael Kor’s white and black polka dot, jet set travel bag! My mother-in-law bought this purse for me in the reverse black and white coloring shown in the link for my birthday a few years ago and honestly it has become such a great bag for work, school, travel and now Thanksgiving. Having a larger bag to travel with for both of our Thanksgiving festivities this year will be perfect to hold all of my necessities.

Now it is your turn to jump outside of your comfort zone and break the no white after Labor Day rule!

Remember: when you are getting dressed for Thanksgiving this year be bold and try something new. Wear white jeans this Fall and Winter because you are unique and a rule breaker!Screen Shot 2018-11-01 at 10.10.43 PM
