NYFW Day 1 The Look

I cannot believe New York Fashion Week is finally here. I have to say one of my favorite things about NYFW is how many amazing people I run into just on my way into the lines for shows. Today is day 1 here in New York City and within my first five minutes I ran into two of my favorites: @lizeverettestyle and @stephanijstyle! The first show I went to was Chinese designer MUKZIN in collaboration with HARBIN. The start of the show was very unique compared to the rest of NYFW shows. The MC came out to talk about those suffering in China right now with the coronavirus and how we as a fashion community stand here together to support those suffering. The fabrics for MUKZIN’s line were gorgeous with an elegant detail of embroidery.

After the first show I took a little break and went to the TRESemme lounge where I turned my rainy, flat straight hair into a fun little raised braid and halfy bun! @joannsolomonbeautydid a beautiful and quick job with my hair just in time to run to my next show! Let’s be honest, it isn’t fashion week if you aren’t rushing to each show and event!

Next up was the Fashion Hong Kong show, which displayed three different Hong Kong designer’s lines. I met up with my girlfriend @fashionstylefoodie where we sat front row to watch this vibrant runway show. Before the show began I was lucky enough to run into one of my favorites from FIT, photographer @Andrewwerner, who took beautiful photos of Ana and I on the Fashion Hong Kong runway. As I mentioned before the exhilaration you feel when you run into people you know or meeting new comers to network with is such an awesome experience. Right before the show began right across from me in the front row was my mentor @josephdeacetis, so of course I had to run right over for a quick hug as the lights went out! The first designer was Heaven Please,+ which featured this stunning red jacket with very unique sleeves see below. The hair styles were very distinctive, but on point with the brand.

Sun=Sen Collection showed a line with lots of violets, neon pink, bright blue and very out there apparel. Check out this finale to get the full vibe of this “Hello Kitty” styled line.

Harrison Wong was the next designer showing a trendy men and women’s line together. His oversized, doubled textured coats are definitely what stole the crowds eye.

After the show Ana and I popped by the Glenlivet station to get our custom-made flasks! How cute are these?!

Maybelline teamed up with one of my favorite coffee shops, Bible & Sip. We made the cutest hot chocolates with giant hand-made marshmallows.

Right before a quick lunch break, we stopped by the Jeff Wan presentation to preview his New York made leather purses. The gorgeous details within each purse is to die for. He works with different textures and colors to create a work of art in a hand bag form. I am definitely obsessed with his milk carton and Chinese container style purses.

This evening I had the opportunity to view Secteur 6’s runway show at Pier 59 Studios, which is designed by brothers Amit & Puneet Hooda. The music for this show, let me tell you, was on point! They featured a late 80s into early 90s vibe with fresh and fun colors. There were multiple boxy suits with tie waist bands that had a classy, trendy, flirtatious vibe. The fringe embellishments were stunning with gorgeous embroideries and appliques. This was the first time I have seen their collection and I have to say I was very impressed.

I ended day 1 of New York Fashion week at Spring Studios with the Oqliq show. They featured primarily men’s trendy sportswear. It was a very unique line of apparel and a great way to end my first day of NYFW shows!

Let’s take a pause and talk about today’s first look. This was not my original outfit for today, but hello rain! I tossed a trench coat in black and white plaid over my look for weather purposes, but it actually ended up looking pretty cute. The main focus on my outfit today was the leather snakeskin skirt. This piece is super trendy and super affordable.  Next up are my tall leather white boots, which were very comfortable. I found a little yellow detail in my skirt, so I went out of my comfort zone and bought a marigold turtleneck to bring the look together.

Now let’s talk details! I am sure most of you saw my Chanel unveiling from Paris Fashion Week last fall, so I obviously will be abusing my exclusive Paris collection Chanel leather purse with pearl detailing. I added my Gucci belt, which may have been an over kill, but if I am being honest you can never have too much when it comes to designers and NYFW. While in Paris I also found this classy lion necklace by Gucci, which tied my rings together nicely as well. I featured the two Taylor Swift snakes on my left hang with my wedding bands and engagement ring and on my right hand I added my David Yurman chain ring, a halfy spiked ring and my evil eye ring. Last but not least I added my earrings from my collaboration with @anamariortega.

Look number 2 for day 1 of New York Fashion Week was a bit more girly, edgy, oversized, trendy and an evening look for sure. I really love a good leather legging, especially this pair because they have back pockets! I paired this with an oversized charcoal gray blazer and the cutest chain belt to give myself a little figure I added my tall white leather boots to bring in a bit of lightness to this bold yet dark style. I think it is official Rent The Runway will not be getting this MSGM tote bag back because it was the perfect touch to a rainy evening outfit!
